As thousands of students return to school for the 2024-2025 academic year, the Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula has intensified security measures across the region. With classes officially opening on Monday, July 29, local authorities are committed to ensuring the safety and security of students, parents, and school personnel.

In Zamboanga City alone, the Department of Education has reported a total of 198,850 enrollees in various public schools, reflecting the region’s commitment to education despite challenges. The influx of students necessitated the heightened security protocols, with police officers deployed to schools, bus terminals, and busy thoroughfares to maintain peace and order.

Regional police officials have collaborated closely with school administrations to implement safety measures, including regular patrols and the establishment of information desks to address any concerns from the community. Parents and guardians are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to ensure a safe environment for students as they embark on a new school year.

“We understand the importance of a secure environment for our students and teachers,” said a representative from the Police Regional Office. “Our goal is to provide peace of mind to parents as their children head back to school.”

The opening of classes is not only a significant event for families but also serves as a reminder of the region’s ongoing commitment to education. Schools have prepared various activities and programs to welcome students back, emphasizing the importance of education in shaping future leaders.

As the school year kicks off, the community is hopeful that with increased security measures and cooperation among stakeholders, students can focus on their studies and engage in a safe learning environment.
